Company History

Crow Wing County, Minnesota, was established on May 23, 1857, and organized on March 3, 1870. It is named for the Crow Wing River, which is itself named for an island in the river that is shaped like the wing of a crow. With a population of 64,000 residents, Crow Wing County encompasses an area of approximately 1,157 square miles in north-central Minnesota and sits approximately 125 miles northwest of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. Some of the major highways in the County include U.S. Route 169 and State Highways 6, 18, 25, 210, 309, and 371. The County is made up of 18 cities, 28 townships, and two unorganized territories. As the City of Brainerd is the County seat, the County is included in the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area.
